24”x30”. This the biggest painting I’ve ever painted, and the painting that took me the longest to paint. It has quite the story, and I want to share it with you! I went to a local farmer’s market and saw a painting I really wanted, but I doubted myself and didn’t get it. The following week I went back to get it, but it was gone. I bought a poor replacement that was twice as expensive from a different artist, and hated it immediately when I got home. It sat in the darkness of my closet for months, until I accepted I would never hang it on my wall and took it out to paint on it myself. I decided to practice mixing red and yellow to make orange, but it turned into an ugly brown color. I put it back in my closet for another few weeks until I was ready to try mixing orange again. This time, I looked up how to mix orange on Google and it was so much easier! The entire painting flowed out of me after that, and this is the result. I call it “I Liberate Myself” because I had to liberate my own creativity, passion, and self-trust in order to paint it.
